i don't know if anybody else has been reading the new action comics run but i find it is at times devolving into morrisonian insanity. by that i mean: about 60% of the time i don't know what is going on. morrison said that to match the name of the book, his writing style would be fast-paced and emphasize ACTION. i want to know if grant actually thinks his normal pace is anything but breakneck. don't get me wrong, i love the guy's storytelling but following it monthly instead of in collected volumes is confusing as a japanese gameshow. that stuff with the legion of superheroes in particular was not explained at all - i had to wikipedia that shit. one recent issue ended in a cliffhanger, only to have a two issue backstory insert keep the reader from finding out what happened to superman for two months. the new 52 was supposed to be an entrypoint for new readers, featuring writing not bogged down in continuity but i feel like most of the time these writers still expect more than a cursory knowledge of the existing dc universe.
