Shout out to all MLIS students with this one, haha! :] Of course, in the 1960s, Batgirl's alter-ego is portrayed as the type to spend her time shelving books, which is unfortunately a common depiction at the time... I haven't read any Batgirl comics from recent years, but I hope that if she's still a librarian in her day job that she kicks butt a little more at it! Here's a link to an article that has a little bit more on librarians and how they are portrayed in comic books [and overall, to add some general context]: independent.academia.edu/AbigailLuthmann/Papers/870692/Librarians_professionalism_and_image_stereotype_and_reality

I don't even know if Babs has a job in the new Batgirl. I love it, but I don't remember anything about a work life in it so far... She has a cute activist roommate and is generally awesome, but yeah, no library that I've seen.
Of course, before the reboot she was Oracle, and Oracle's pretty much an information scientist for the bat-family.

Well that's kind of a letdown!
And true, Oracle was pretty awesome... At least the information science field was still portrayed.
