I was wondering if anyone had been following any of the Stephen King graphic novels (such as The Stand or The Dark Tower). I've not read them all, but would like to know what people think of them.
Good? Bad? Ugly?

I haven't read any, but I've passed them by on store shelves a good many times and felt tempted to buy some. The Stand would probably be where I'd start, if I decided to give it a go. I'd love some input on this too!

I have one or two of The Stand, but I have not yet found the money to buy the rest. I've read the first Dark Tower trade that was released and was utterly blown away. Perhaps they are something I should go read at Chapters.

I've only read the gunslinger born (largely because i insist on buying them hardcover and cannot find the next in the series in that format) but good lord is it gorgeous. Richard Isanove is one of my favourite colourists in the industry and he gives the world such a instant vibrancy. I haven't yet read any of King's novels in the series so I'm not sure how the characters and prose match up but I definitely recommend at least the first volume to anybody unfamiliar with the series and hope it meets fans' expectations because it certainly exceeded mine.

That is also the one that I've read, and I found it definitely lived up to its source material. Of course, it helps that Stephen King is fully on board with all of the graphic novels produced of his work. I can definitely count myself as a fan of his.
I think I should laud the fact that I have a friend who owns a comic shop and can find me all sorts of wonderful things. (I too will only get collected volumes, preferably hardcovers.)

i spent a long time looking at one in L.A. Mood the other day. i'm always on the fence about Stephen King. sometimes i love his stories, other times i feel like he just cranks them out a bit too quickly. But i would be interested in check out on or two of the graphic novel versions, since i can read those at least as quickly as he turns them out.
